Housing affordability is one of the biggest challenges facing Raleigh as our city continues to grow. Too many residents are struggling to keep up with rising housing costs, and people who have lived and worked here for years are finding it increasingly difficult to afford to stay. We need more housing choices at different price points across Raleigh, so residents have options throughout the city rather than affordable housing being concentrated in only certain areas. But simp

I made a decision early in my campaign not to accept contributions from developers, the real estate industry, or organizations with commercial interests in decisions made by the City of Raleigh. Raleigh is growing, and decisions about housing, zoning, land use, and development will shape our city's future for years to come. These decisions affect our neighborhoods, infrastructure, affordability, and quality of life. I recognize that developers and the real estate industry pla

I have spent a lot of time in downtown Raleigh and at Moore Square over the past five years, where I host a free monthly community event series. Downtown needs to be a place where residents, visitors, businesses, and the people who live there feel safe. There isn’t one solution to every public safety issue downtown. I recently attended a neighborhood meeting regarding Glenwood South where residents asked for a more consistent police presence during times when we know there is

This conversation came up in response to the recent teen takeover incidents, which appear to be part of a national trend. Reports indicate that many participants came from ou

I have serious concerns about Raleigh's use of Flock cameras. I understand that there are benefits to this technology, and RPD has reported using it to recover stolen vehicles, solve cases, and locate missing people. However, those benefits need to be weighed against concerns about privacy, surveillance, data security, and potential misuse. Recent reporting identified problems with former employees being listed as active users in RPD's system, which the department has since

I support the moratorium on data centers because I personally don't believe they belong in Raleigh, especially anywhere near residential neighborhoods. There are serious environmental and infrastructure concerns related to these facilities, including noise, water consumption, energy demands, and the potential impact on utility costs for residents. Under North Carolina law, municipalities cannot simply ban data centers, but we can establish strict zoning regulations that add
